This tiny report is part of my attempts to get The Urban Tele up to date. It’s about a month old.
ARIA Album Chart Report- 16th October
Local Content Score- 6 of top 20
For the second week in a row Jet was in at third to lead the locals. Marcia Hines was again the second local but had fallen to ninth.
Eskimo Joe was in at tenth, Wolfmother at thirteenth, Ms McIntosh at nineteenth and The Rogue Traders at twentieth.
Pretty quiet week really.
Top 20 Weekend Cinema Box Office Takings October 12th - 15th
Local Content Score- 2 of Top 20
Two locals in the Twenty this week but it was still Kenny leading the charge with yet another increase in its weekly box office. This week it was a more modest 6% to get $359,215 but in the box office business any gain is pretty impressive. Kenny did, however, slip to twelfth after some big import results. Still, it broke through the $5 million mark for $5,078,806, which puts it in fairly esteemed company- local films that are a box office success.
The second local film was Irresistible, a movie with big name actors but very little impact at the cinema. It made $122,489 in its debut from a screen count of 47, giving it a fairly respectable $2,606 screen average, but there wasn’t much more expected from this one. Another waste of tax payer money in the name of ‘art’. Sigh.

Top 20 Metropolitan TV Ratings 8th - 14th October
Local Content Score- 14 of top 20
Tamer week this one with Aussie Idol taking the number one spot with 1.891 million viewers. Dancing with the Stars was the next local in at third, followed by Thank God You’re Here at fifth with 1.77 and 1.673 million viewers each.
The Real Sea Change had a pretty good debut in at ninth while behind it in tenth was the Bathurst coverage for a very handy 1.436 million viewers. Not bad for a frantic drive in the country.
Home and Away was in at twelfth while Medical Emergency proved it needed Medical Emergency to make it really successful, only making it to seventeenth. Better Homes and Gardens and All Saints rounded out The Twenty at nineteenth and twentieth.
