Aussie Pirates of the Caribbean- Spoiler Warning

<SPOILER WARNING!!!>
Don’t read any further if you don’t want to know what happens in the movie.
Saw the second Pirates of the Caribbean movie last night. Anyone notice the Australian element running in pirate culture?
I’m not sure how far pirates range and roam but the number of ‘mates’, ‘no worries’ and even ‘buggers’ flying around suggests that they’ve spent at least a small amount of time sailing off the coast of Australia. Not only that but the ‘buggers’ even suggest that they’ve been watching the occasional Toyota ad…
Now the next movie apparently sees the crew stow their tackle and make for, and I quote, the ‘edge of the world‘. Now considering the only captain that knows those waters is our one and only Geoffrey Rush- the only Australian in the movie- and our own piece of paradise has often been considered real estate close to those unfortunate lost souls spending time in purgatory (Something about the fact that you cant go any further south than Australia- it’s hot because our continent is only a little bit north of hell. Had to have been a Pom who came up with that.) does that mean that the ‘edge of the world‘ is Down Under? After all, Geoffrey should know the place- he’s lived here most of his life.
Actually there was a few things that surprised me about the movie, especially some of the humour. The joke about wanting to shoot the monkey for fun seemed a little strange for a Hollywood movie- not strange to Australian audiences because we seem to have a thing for shooting cats- but American films seem to shy away from that stuff because of animal cruelty. The grog jokes were also thick on the ground which isn’t very Disney at all. Characters valuing alcohol above all else would have Walt raising an eyebrow. Maybe the writers are Australian…
More likely my wishful thinking.
