And from the archetypal Australian beer ad we go to something altogether different...
This has to be one of the most reviled ads ever to shine from an Australian tv set. But it was great advertising.
With a massive gross-out factor and the most effective 'cant get it out of my head' song ever to accompany an Australian ad, this ad had it all and goes down as one of the most memorable Aussie beer ads ever.
It doesn't conform to any of the typical beer ad conventions though which is what makes it fairly unique. They made a sequel that was similar, but it fell flat without the novelty factor, and the resurgence of piss taking thanks to The Big Ad means that we're not about to be deluged in stylish, unfunny beer ads but it does go to show that if it's unique and clever we'll enjoy (or revile) any beer ad.
