Beer Ad- The Shed
September 11th 2006 00:09
Realised that at two beer ads a week I'll never get round to writing about anything but beer ads so here's another one.
LOVE this ad. What more can you say about the importance of the humble garden shed? Not much really.
People everywhere need their place to escape, a place to be with similar people who share their values and respect their way of life. But what if your significant other, along with your mates' significant others, keep preventing you from enjoying time with said respectful people? The answer is obviously a massive shed that James Bond would be proud to call his own hideaway.
This ad takes the piss out of a lot of male activity but I especially love the 13 second mark where the guy asks his mate if he actually knows how to fix the toaster and he says he does't have a clue. So, even though sheds are supposed to represent male competence in all things handy-man-land, this ad shows us that it's all a myth, that the old school notion of a shed is a load of crap, and that these days it's just an escape.
