Catch up reports- 24th Sep- 2nd Oct

This tiny report is part of my attempts to get The Urban Tele up to date. It’s about a month old.

ARIA Album Chart Report- 2nd October
Local Content Score- 6 of top 20

At the dawn of October Eskimo Joe was still in at number four, closely followed by Ms Stephanie McIntosh of Neighbours soapie fame in at fifth.

From fifth it was down to fifteenth with Evermore’s Real Life, then Wolfmother’s self titled in at sixteenth on three platinum wall decorators.

Sixteenth was Rogue Traders and, to round out the locals in the Top Twenty, there was Kasey Chambers in at eighteenth with her Carnival Album.

Top 20 Weekend Cinema Box Office Takings September 28th- October 1st
Local Content Score- 1 of Top 20

Quiet week with only one local, Kenny, in the Top Twenty. But then again, if you wanted one movie in The Twenty Kenny would be it.

Kenny was in at twelfth with a long weekend take of $314,253 off 98 cinema screens. It wasn’t a bad effort with an average of $2,653 per screen but the total was down 33% on the week before. This took Kenny’s total to $4,135,681.

There was another Aussie film released, children’s drama Opal Dream, but this failed to make it into The Twenty after an abysmal $9,149 from 34 screens. Not pretty at all.

The footy season is upon us, and with it some big figures.

Top 20 Metropolitan TV Ratings 24th - 30th September
Local Content Score- 15 of top 20

Big week of footy results with the AFL final dominating. Top was of course the final with 3.145 million viewers across the metros, which is a few hundred thousand down on last year. Other final shows were also in at third, fourth and eleventh with 2.5, 2.27 and 1.49 million viewers respectively.

Also on this week was the Terri Irwin exclusive which came in at second with 2.516 million viewers, making it a massive week of television.

In at fifth was Dancing with the Stars, sixth was Thank God You’re Here, Aussie Idol at eighth and the AFL Footy Show in at tenth.

From there it was down to the bottom five which had All Saints and Home and Away, the rest being news and current affairs shows.

If you’d like to see the full charts just get in touch and I’ll email you copies.
