This Weeks Top Twenty Albums
July 26th 2006 06:01
A local back in number one, a local who is defying chart gravity and a local debut this week make it a good week for the local scene.
ARIA Album Chart Report- 24th July
Local Content Score- 5 of top 20
It was a good effort this week as Eskimo Joe saw off last weeks debuting imports to show they really do own the top of the chart. In at number one this makes them six weeks at the top. Very impressive.
Even more impressive is Rogue Traders run of form. I’ve said it a few weeks in a row now but they really are doing incredible things with this weeks return to fourth spot on the charts a little awe inspiring. This is an album that has been on the charts for thirty nine weeks now and it has just climbed back up to fourth! Many debuts don’t make it that high!
In at tenth was Youth Group’s debut (finally) Casino Twilight Dogs. It’s an okay placing but with all the airplay their single Forever Young got (that was the incredibly annoying cant-get-the-bloody-thing-out-of-my-head OC song) tenth place seems a little low. Next week could be a lot better as the delayed release may have damaged its opening week.
From there the other two locals in the top twenty were old hands on the chart with both The Veronicas and Wolfmother returning to The Top Twenty in at sixteenth and twentieth respectively and Something for Kate falling out of the Twenty to twenty third.
So not a bad week all in all. To see the full chart head over to the ARIA Charts.
